WalkerBai Consulting worked with Guymer Bailey Architects to deliver the Electrical, Mechanical, Hydraulic & Section J Services on the BCE St Eugene College Marian Building upgrade. The Marian Building is the first project in the Brisbane Catholic Education portfolio of schools to be built since the commencement of the Energy Reduction and Management Plan (ERaMP) program. The HVAC systems have been designed around a user-informed model to achieve a ‘Mixed Mode’ ventilation outcome. A key feature in achieving the frameworks laid out in the ERaMP program was the new Network Automation Controller (NAC). The NAC at its core is the brain of the building. The NAC controls & monitors all services loads, lighting day-light harvesting & the HVAC systems through integration of a weather station, local CO2 sensors, humidity & temperature control to achieve a perfect learning environment.
The project has been awarded the ‘Renovation/Modernisation under 5 million’ and was also the ‘Overall Winner’ for all categories in the 2020 Learning Environments Queensland awards.
